With all of her diverse experiences, it stands to reason that Joan has seen, done, said, and heard a lot of hateful things. Thank god, she took notes.

Well, I knew before I bought this book what to expect--I featured it on my blog a few months ago after it was released and I had to read it. After all, this is Joan Rivers we're talking about here! From the first page to the last, I could not stop laughing. She truly hates everyone and herself, just as the title suggests.Some of the comedy in this book is really ignorant, and if you don't have a thick skin, or you're not accustomed to Joan's outbursts without thinking, but rather speaking first, then I would definitely not suggest you read this--because it will not be for you!
I laughed so hard until I cried, but I've always liked Joan's sense of humor where others find her rude, crude and downright ignorant, which she is all of the above, and is proud to admit that throughout the book.
I have to say, I pretty much agreed with just about everything she hates, and some things she hates truly shocked me because she had the balls and guts to actually write what she feels. I give her credit for that. I don't know if I could have been that brutally honest, and people talk about Simon Cowell being brutally honest and rude, they obviously have never heard Joan's comedy.
This book is so damn hilarious and I loved it, but I warn you, like I said, if you don't like her standup, you will not enjoy this book.

hilarious and laugh out loud funny! def recommend for anyone looking for a light read. i wish she had more books!
I Hate Everyone... Starting with Me Enhanced ebook with video is so worth buying!!!! I own all thre editions of this hilarious little bit of magic by the "icon", the late Joan River. I.bought the hardback, the paperback and the deluxe kindle edition, which has the exta new material shot
And writer for this too. There is also another pressing of "I Hate Everyone... Starting With Me" but unlike kindles regular standard, the removed the original ebook edition of the origins
This book was so funny, that when I laughed out loud, my dogs would look at me with puzzled faces! If a person is sensitive to foul language or comments about various ethnicities, it may be offensive. Joan writes in good humor. She's a comedian, and wouldn't sell books if she was politically correct all the time. If you're open-minded, and don't mind some crude language, you'll love it. I'm busy, but would read a chapter or two at a time (which were only a few pages) and I'd get a good laugh. I passed it on to my daughter and told her to pass it on. I wish I hadn't so I could read it again. I read "Diary of a Mad Diva" by Joan Rivers and it wasn't as funny, but still entertaining. If you're trying to decide on a book, I think you'll like "I Hate Everyone...Starting with Me". It's hilarious!
This book is so inappropriate but so damn hysterical!!! I know I got many looks from fellow riders on the subway but I laughed so hard. We all need to laugh and if you do pick up this book, there was nobody quite as hysterical as Joan Rivers!!!
It's written in the same format as Shirley MacLaine's "I'm Over All That," but, of course, Rivers is funny and the only funny thing about MacLaine's book is that she takes herself and her simplistic opinions so seriously. Anyway, back to Rivers. She writes the way she talks during her standup comic routine and her humor knows no boundaries, so, if you're the least bit squeamish and take your PC-ness seriously, you won't like this. But, if you're able to appreciate the humor that is innate in everything human, you might enjoy this though she speaks only from the POV of a New Yorker who loves to shop. It's one of those books you take to the beach with you and that you've easily finished by the time you get home. I have to admit that there were only a couple of times when it made me laugh out loud, and I stopped reading it about 3/4 of the way through because it was pretty much the same old same old.
I rate this with reverence as Joan Rivers has passed, I did enjoy the book because I knew what I was in for, However, I found some parts to be trite. I was not insulted I know that's what she was famous for. Would I recommend the book? Yes.y
I took this book on an airplane to read for entertainment. Joan's words nearly had me in hysterics, and I knew I had to share the book with my husband. We read together as we sat next to each other on the plane, and we could barely contain ourselves. I was afraid the flight attendant would ask if we were crying or in some form of distress because we looked like we were in fits from laughing so hard.
I have always been a fan of Joan's, so I don't know if this book would only appeal to like-minded people. Plenty of people have told me they don't care for her humor when I recommended this book to them. Frankly, they are missing out.
